Welcome to the AQUAPHOENIX summer newsletter! We are pleased to share updates at what feels like a particularly exciting moment in the project. Following strong progress, AQUAPHOENIX is now moving into a more implementation‑focused phase, with sludge collection demonstration activities preparing to kick off in the coming months in both Norway and Åland.

Over the past few months, AQUAPHOENIX partners have also been active in sharing the project’s ambitions and early results with a wide range of stakeholders. We have contributed to several key events, including a high‑level session at One Ocean Week in Bergen, Norway and a webinar with the United Nations Environmental Programme showcasing our project. These events have enabled valuable engagement with policymakers, industry representatives, researchers, and innovators around the role of circular solutions in sustainable aquaculture.

In June, we gathered external stakeholders and project partners in Åland for a public information session and our annual meeting. This was an excellent opportunity to engage with government representatives and key stakeholders, to further advance the opportunities of sludge collection for reducing environmental impacts and supporting sustainable growth in aquaculture production in the Baltic Sea. In addition, this allowed us to take stock of project implementation, explore synergies across activities, and visit one of our demonstration sites.
