IMPACT

DRIVING CHANGE
AQUAPHOENIX works with stakeholders in policy, industry and society, working on local, regional and international levels to ensure our solutions have a lasting impact.

Supporting sustainable economies
AQUAPHOENIX is working to help make the European aquatic sector more resilient by increasing production, reducing emissions and creating circular value. This work is in line with the European Green Deal, which aims to transform Europe into a resource-efficient and competitive economy.
Our approaches to clean, circular aquaculture are supported through a number of European policy and research frameworks, including as an objective of the Baltic & North Sea Lighthouse within EU Mission Restore our Ocean and Freshwaters, the Strategic Guidelines for a Sustainable European Aquaculture, multiple European Partnerships (including the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership and the Energy Transition Partnership for Fisheries and Aquaculture) and Smart Specialisation Strategies (S3) – specifically the new Thematic Smart Specialisation Platform (TSSP) for Circular Smart Aquaculture – which foster knowledge and growth in EU regions and countries.
Supporting sustainable food production
AQUAPHOENIX aims to meet the increased demand for sustainably produced food – both by producing sustainable seafood in aquaculture farms collect sludge and store it for recycling, and by creating new value chains around biofertilisers, agriculture and aquaculture feed and new food sources that support sustainable food production in line with the European food security and sustainable food systems strategy.
Supporting regulation and policy
AQUAPHOENIX works to inform policies that make sludge collection and the circular uses of sludge feasible. By testing novel technology, filling knowledge gaps about environmental effects and engaging with political and civil sector stakeholders, we provide technology and scientific knowledge to motivate regulatory change.
