The AQUAPHOENIX objectives reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the project. Our mission is to make a lasting impact on circular aquaculture technology, industry, science, policy, and communication.
The third project objective focusses on the validation of aquaculture waste (sludge) as a resource that can be collected and reused in the production of new assets. Aquaculture sludge contains high levels of nitrogen and phosphorus (N + P), which can be deployed in the manufacturing of products like green biogas, novel feed, and organic fertilisers. Objective 3 will focus on the downstream development of sludge into sustainable products and will grow commercial and public awareness of these sustainable uses.
